Regardless of Google smart glasses, Google unveiled its ‘diabetes-friendly’ and more beneficial Smart Contact Lens to keep track of glucose level in diabetic people. The lens has an embedded tiny glucose sensor and a small wireless chip, between the layers of the lens to keep a constant check of wearer’s blood sugar level (BSL) through next gen Smartphones. With this cutting edge technology, patients may not have to use the CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and can avoid needle phobia in their daily routine. It provides a wearer an early warning about any drastic spikes or fall in BSL that could lead to organ damage or worse. The handful users are wearing the early prototypes of the lenses. If they succeed, depending on the FDA approval then the newer models will have the LED indicators to pin point the spiking of fall level. With futuristic technologies we can monitor our every move with the blink of an eye.
