The Japanese SEL (Semiconductor Energy Laboratory) has developed aFlexible High Definition CAAC-OS Display exhibited in the FPD 2013 Electronics Trade Show in Japan last month. The company is progressively going ahead in research on oxide semiconductor and next-generation semiconductor materials. We have been crisscrossing around the curved screen smartphones by Samsung and LG since a while. However, a new type of material called C-Axis Aligned Crystal (CAAC) is used in the making of this OLED bendable display. The continuous alignment of the crystals avoids this material to break easily. The CAAC also enables TFT to perform excellent because of its high mobility, thus high resolution can be attained on big displays. They made it easily bent to 4mm diameter. In this show, they also put the prototype of a flexible watch consists of bendable lithium ion battery for exhibition. Not to talk of future, current advancements in wearable tech are getting a bit faster.
